Writing & ideas.
Research, reports, presentations, and ideas at the intersection of education, technology, and society.
My work draws on sociology, anthropology, educational research, and the arts. It has explored how people understand artistic value, how children experience digital technology, and how educational institutions approach assessment and technological change. More recently, my interests have turned towards artificial intelligence in higher education, particularly questions of agency, knowledge, and the relationships between people, technologies, and institutions.
Most of my earlier publications are in Icelandic.

Artificial Intelligence, Agency and Higher Education
University of Iceland
My doctoral research in sociology examines artificial intelligence in higher education, focusing on agency, institutional practices, and the relationships between people, technologies, and institutions. Drawing on sociomaterial and posthumanist perspectives, I am particularly interested in how AI becomes embedded in academic practices and how universities respond to emerging technologies.

Art, Social Distinction and the Perception of Artistic Value
University of Iceland
An investigation into why perceptions of art differ across social groups and how divisions emerge between the general public and the art world. Drawing on phenomenology and Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus, the research combines interviews, questionnaires, and fieldwork to examine how social position, education, and cultural experience shape understandings of artistic value. The study also takes a reflexive approach to the researcher's position within the art world.
